Diesel forklift power source analysis and its application in modern industry

2025-02-06

1. Overview of diesel forklift power source
The power source of diesel forklift is mainly diesel engine, which is an internal combustion engine. It produces high-temperature and high-pressure gas through the combustion of diesel and air, drives the piston to move, and then converts the linear motion of the piston into rotational motion through connecting rods, crankshafts and other mechanisms to output mechanical energy. Diesel engine has the characteristics of compact structure, high power, high torque and high thermal efficiency. It is a commonly used power source in heavy equipment and vehicles.

2. Working principle of diesel engine
The working principle of diesel engine mainly includes four strokes: intake, compression, power and exhaust.
Intake stroke: In the intake stroke, air enters the cylinder through the air filter, and the fuel injector starts to spray fuel, spraying diesel into the cylinder in the form of mist. At this time, the pressure and temperature in the cylinder gradually increase.
Compression stroke: In the compression stroke, the piston moves upward to compress the air and diesel mixture in the cylinder, further increasing its temperature and pressure. When the temperature and pressure reach a certain level, the diesel will spontaneously ignite and produce high-temperature and high-pressure gas.
Power stroke: During the power stroke, high-temperature and high-pressure gas pushes the piston downward, drives the crankshaft to rotate through the connecting rod, and outputs mechanical energy. Part of this mechanical energy is used to drive the forklift forward or lift goods, and the other part is converted into heat energy and dissipated into the environment.
Exhaust stroke: During the exhaust stroke, the piston moves upward to discharge the exhaust gas in the cylinder. The exhaust gas is discharged into the atmosphere through the exhaust pipe. In order to reduce the emission of pollutants, modern diesel engines are usually equipped with exhaust treatment systems, such as particulate filters, oxidation catalysts, etc.

III. Power performance characteristics of Diesel forklift
High power and high torque: Diesel engines have high power and torque output, so that diesel forklifts can still maintain good power performance under heavy loads and harsh working conditions.
High thermal efficiency: Diesel engines have high thermal efficiency and can convert the chemical energy of fuel into mechanical energy more efficiently, thereby improving the fuel economy of forklifts.
Strong endurance: Due to the relatively low fuel consumption rate of diesel engines, the abundant reserves of diesel and the relatively cheap price, diesel forklifts have strong endurance and are suitable for long-term continuous operation.
Strong adaptability: Diesel engines have strong adaptability to fuel and can work stably within a wide range of fuel quality. The power system of diesel forklifts is relatively simple and the maintenance cost is low.

4. Advantages of diesel forklifts
Strong heavy-load capacity: Diesel forklifts have a high carrying capacity and are suitable for carrying heavy goods.
High operating efficiency: The power performance of the diesel engine enables the forklift to start, accelerate and brake quickly during the handling process, improving the operating efficiency.
Wide range of applications: Diesel forklifts are suitable for outdoor or large warehouses, docks, factories and other scenes that require heavy handling and long-term continuous operation.
Low maintenance cost: Compared with electric forklifts, diesel forklifts have a relatively simple power system and low maintenance cost.

5. Application of diesel forklifts in modern industry
In modern industry, diesel forklifts are favored for their strong power performance, heavy-load capacity and wide applicability. They are widely used in warehouse management, logistics distribution, production and manufacturing, and other links, becoming key equipment to improve production efficiency and reduce labor intensity. Especially in scenarios where heavy goods need to be moved or long-term continuous operations are required, the advantages of diesel forklifts are more obvious.

With the increasingly stringent environmental regulations and the improvement of people's environmental awareness, the exhaust emissions of diesel forklifts have gradually attracted attention. In order to reduce the impact on the environment, modern diesel forklifts usually use advanced exhaust treatment technologies, such as particulate filters, oxidation catalysts, etc., to reduce the emission of harmful substances. Some companies have also begun to explore the use of alternative energy or clean energy forklifts, such as electric forklifts, hydrogen energy forklifts, etc., to reduce dependence on fossil fuels and environmental pollution.
